PLDT, through its corporate business arm PLDT Enterprise, continues its push to create greater awareness of the Internet of Things (IoT) with its recent support of the 2017 Digital Transformation Summit.
Held at the SMX Convention Center, the summit features industry experts who led insightful discussions on the impact of digital transformation on businesses, as well as opportunities in its adoption.
Chet Alviz, Smart Enterprise AVP and Head of Wireless Solutions and Executive Director of the Philippine Internet of Everything Consortium (PIOEC), discussed the state of IoT adoption in the Philippines and in the region as one of the summit speakers. Alviz noted how interest in IoT continues to grow as evident in the increased spending of ASEAN countries on IoT.
“The Philippines has certainly made tremendous progress in terms of IoT adoption,” said Alviz, sharing how IoT is expected to be present in every business within the next three years based on research conducted by IDC.
Alviz also shared how PIOEC aims to elevate Philippine businesses to be at par with its global counterparts within the scope of IoT, and how the initiatives of PIOEC as well as events like the Digital Transformation Summit help further generate understanding of how IoT can benefit businesses.
“We are proud to support the Digital Transformation Summit and share the many strides PIOEC has made for IoT promotion,” said Alviz. “Working together with various sectors, not only representatives from the business community but even those from academe and government, we can continue to drive IoT growth in the country.”
